The C.X. is a 26' sloop rigged sailboat built by Tanzer. Made here in Canada 36 years ago she was the 24th one built.
Originally the Tanzer 26's were designed as a club racer / light cruiser, most likely for North America's inland and coastal waterways. The C.X. has been modified to extend her cruising ability for more lengthy passage, with the goal of safe, fast and efficient single handing in mind.
Currently the C.X. is sailed in Georgian bay, lake Huron, and lake Superior, while she is being refit to cross the Atlantic ocean.
Within these pages we will document the refit and preparation. Along the way we will let you know what we think of the gear and modifications.
We are always looking to speak to experienced, knowledgeable people to help us on our way.
Come by the forum and say hello.
2010 Delivery of the C.X. is complete. From southern Georgian Bay, through Lake Huron, Lake Erie and to its new home in Grimsby Lake Ontario.
We took 6 days day complete the trip and set a new surfing speed record for the boat hitting 11 knots of speed one night and a 24hr distance of 152 miles.
The new gear and reefing by Harken worked great, check out the video as we get it up.
